FAMILY
MATH NIGHT |
On April 24th the Argenta-Oreana Elementary Library hosted a “Double Dipping” Family Math Night as part of a Library Services and Technology Act Grant we received through the Illinois State Library. There was a concert with math music by Amy Lowe from Chicago. She performed during the school day for the students and came back in the evening to perform for parents. Music is a great way to help students retain their math facts. The week before we were also entertained by “Dave the Math Dog” demonstrating his math skills. Ilene Tucker did a presentation about the history of quilts and showed many of her quilts. Two quilts the 5th graders made as part of the grant were on display. One was an A-O orange and blue quilt that will stay on display in the library. The other was a quilt the students made for a wounded soldier that will be sent to Scott Air Force Base. They also are making a baby quilt for the Linus project. |
