Our
Box Tops for Education drive seems to be going very well
this year. Students are encouraged to tape box tops to seasonal
collection sheets which are returned to a decorative box
in the hallway. We will be discussing specific prize incentives
for this program at our November meeting. We appreciate all
of the efforts of our Box Top Coordinator, Lora Wright. She
has just mailed a large shipment of Box Tops for redemption.
Come to our November meeting to hear the exciting dollar
figure from our community’s effort to turn trash into
treasure. It is an amazing figure!
Special thanks to our Room Party Coordinator, Tami Wilderman,
for coordinating all of our parent volunteers for the Fall
Parties. The children enjoy these seasonal parties, and we
appreciate all of the parents who make it possible with the
donation of their time to pack treat bags, contribute snacks
for the party, and send treats for the treat bags.
Wendy Taylor has been busy compiling the information
from our returned parent volunteer surveys into a database.
She
will be coordinating the parents with teachers that have
requested volunteer assistance. Look for a date for a volunteer
workshop
probably the second week of November. We value Wendy’s
hard work and the sharing of many great, new ideas that she
brings from her previous school experience.
The teachers are very thankful for all of the donated items
that were brought to Open House in response to the Open House
Shower Wish Lists. Cookies were provided for both the elementary
school and middle school Open Houses by the PATT.
Thank you to everyone that supported our October catalog fundraiser
sale. Those items will be delivered in mid-November. Two requests
were approved at the October meeting. First grade has purchased
a converter box to allow them to use their new DVD player with
an older, larger television. A donation of $200 has been made
to DOVE for the presentation of our BABES program for first
and third grades. The teachers report that this has been an
effective program covering important mental health issues for
our children.
Sympathy has been extended to the family of Debbie
Murbarger, an active Oreana Community Club officer, in
the form of a
donation to the Argenta-Oreana Athletic Booster Club in
her memory.
The Oreana Community Club was the organization serving Oreana
Elementary students in the 1980’s and early 1990’s.
We wanted to recognize the lasting legacy that Debbie’s
contribution to the children and parents of our school district
has left.
