School Reach 9-8-16

Good afternoon, this is Damian Jones, Argenta-Oreana District Superintendent, calling with an announcement for tomorrow, Friday, September 9th.

Although today was cooler and tomorrow is expected to be better than today, we still have significant heat and humidity issues in our schools. This morning and this afternoon, district administrators checked the temperature and humidity levels of classrooms across the district. We had classrooms in the high 80’s and a couple surpassed 90. When you add in the humidity, the heat index is over 105 degrees. This is taking a toll on our students and staff. As a result of these factors and tonight’s forecast staying very muggy, district administrators have made the decision to dismiss early again tomorrow. The ES will dismiss at 12:45 and the MS and High School at 1:00.

Changes to tomorrow’s extracurricular schedule will be provided later on Facebook.

Thankfully, the forecast looks significantly cooler next week. We hope and anticipate that this will be our last early dismissal due to heat for this school year.

Thank you for your understanding and remember to please stay safe, have a good day, and BE PROUD TO BE A BOMBER.
