FINANCIAL AID

The 2024-25 FAFSA opens in December 2023. The US Department of Education is only making that change for this year. After this year, the FAFSA will resume an October 1 start date. (link for more info)

Financial Aid Information Night is on Wednesday, September 27 in the library. All senior parents are welcome to attend.

There are some changes coming with the 2024-25 FAFSA. Here is a newsletter from Sallie Mae outlining some of those changes, specifically Everything you need to know about the new FAFSA changes.

Financial Aid Process Info Sheet (22-23)- based on previous FAFSAs

Financial Aid is one way to seek help in paying for college. To apply for financial aid, you must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form requires household income information from the former tax year and calculates an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). Based on a student's EFC and the cost of the college/university which that student plans to attend, he/she may be eligible for grants, student loans, or a work study position.

"Public Act 101-108 (effective 6/01/20) requires that, beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, public high school students must complete the FAFSA or, as eligible, the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid, as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma." (ISAC.org)

Starting with the Class of 2021, before graduation, all students must either:

  1. Fill out a FAFSA, OR

  2. Fill out the Alternative Application for State Financial Aid, OR

  3. Fill out a waiver stating that you are choosing not to apply for financial aid. Mrs. Mendez has these waivers.
